Balbir Singh Rajyewal releases the Rotary Club poster for “Ek Haath Aasha Ka” Free Limbs Camp

 


Chandigarh: A free limbs camp - Ek Haath Aasha Ka, will be held at the Block 9 of Chandigarh University located on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh Highway (NH 95) in Punjab on 14th November, 2021 under the aegis of Rotary club Chandigarh Central in association of Rotary Club Poona Downtown, District Rotract Organisation. A poster of the event was unveiled today by farmers leader Balbir Singh Rajyewal.

Ashish Midha, President, Rotary Club Chandigarh Central said, “The free limbs camp will be organized for the children above 10 years of age and elders, who have lost their hands in some accident. We will provide light, durable and functional prosthetic hands to the needy people. The US made prosthetic hands, weighing 400 gram only, can be fitted below the elbow. No charge will be taken from the beneficiaries.”

This is first such camp in the northern region. The beneficiaries after getting the prosthetic hands will be able to perform various day to day functions like using the computer keyboard, eating, lifting light weight, digging, writing or doing the household activities, added Midha. Interested people can call on any of these numbers between 10 AM to 6 PM to get their names registered: 9876570601, 9875970602, 9875970603 or 9875970604.

Performed poetry marks the formal launch of poetry book ‘Uns’

Chandigarh:  Nisha Luthra, a Chandigarh based theatre director and founder of The Narrators, a performing arts society, has penned her maiden book of poetry - 'Uns.' 'Uns' was formally and very uniquely unveiled through a 'performed poetry' presentation at the world famous Rock Garden. A music and dance recital was showcased as part of the performed poetry presentation by city based contemporary dance artiste Puneet Jewandah and Bharatnatyam virtuoso Varun Khanna to the accompaniment of  live tabla and violin. The performance was based on the poetry in ‘Uns’ and was conceived and directed by the writer Nisha Luthra herself. "My book is a showcase depicting multifaceted aspects of human sentiments.
